Tried a new grease on the slew ring and got way more vibration than before
Switched to a different brand of grease last week on a Liebherr LTM 1050 I've been running. The old stuff was getting hard to find so I grabbed a tube of something the supplier recommended. After a full day of heavy picks, the slew ring started humming and vibrating like crazy. I thought something was seizing up. Pumped out the new grease and put the old stuff back in. Smooth as silk again. Anyone else run into grease that just doesn't work with certain machines?

Hold on, are we sure it was that simple? I've swapped greases dozens of times across different cranes and never had a vibration that bad from just a lube change. Maybe there was some air trapped in the ring or a bit of debris that worked its way in when you switched it over. I'd pump a whole tube of the old stuff through a few times to flush everything out real good before I blamed the new grease entirely. Could be you just got a bad batch or the ring itself is starting to show its age and the timing was a coincidence.
