Got a critique on my storyboard work that totally changed my approach
Last month a senior designer at the studio I freelance for told me my action sequences were too cluttered, and she said 'let the empty space do the work for you.' I cut half the panels on my next pitch and the director actually loved the cleaner flow. Has anyone else gotten a piece of feedback that completely shifted their whole process?

Right, because who needs clarity when you can just cram every single thought into a panel like it's a Black Friday sale. Glad the director appreciated your newly found empty space though. Did you have to fight the urge to fill it back in immediately?

Oh man, that's such good advice! I had a similar thing happen with a writing project where my editor told me to stop explaining everything and trust the reader to keep up. I cut like a third of my descriptions and the whole thing just breathed better, you know? It's wild how often we think more is better but really it's about making every single panel or line count. That "let empty space work" thing is gold, I'm totally stealing that for my own stuff lol.
