My old studio used to be a total mess until I saw a photo of it online

About six months ago, a client posted a behind-the-scenes shot from our video shoot and my chaotic desk was in the background, covered in three empty coffee cups and a tangled mess of cables. I used to think a 'creative' space had to look 'lived in,' but that photo looked just plain bad. The next day, I bought a $25 cable management kit and set a new rule: everything gets put away at the end of the day. Now my studio in Seattle feels way more professional and I'm not wasting ten minutes looking for a specific adapter. Has anyone else had a moment that forced a total clean-up of their creative workspace?

Man, that photo moment hits home. My old laptop bag was a black hole of charging bricks and loose pens until my friend pulled out a crushed granola bar from it in public. Total wake-up call. Now I do a weekly dump of all my bags and pockets onto a tray, sort it into a little organizer. Saves me from that panicked digging when I need a specific USB cable.

Yeah, that public shame is a powerful motivator. I read an article once about how clutter in your line of sight uses up mental energy, even if you don't notice it. After seeing your post and veraramirez's granola bar story, I finally cleared the junk pile off the corner of my own desk. It was just old mail and random tools, but the difference in how the room feels is actually kind of shocking. I don't miss that low grade stress at all.
