Overheard a guy at a coffee shop say 'AI will replace all studios in 5 years'

I was getting a latte near Union Square last week and this guy was basically yelling at his friend about how creative studios are doomed. He was saying AI can do logos in 30 seconds and nobody will pay humans for design anymore lol. I actually asked him what his background was and he said he worked in finance. It made me think about how many people have no clue what actually goes into running a studio, from client meetings to revisions to building trust. Has anyone else had to explain the real value of human-led creative work to someone like that?

That finance guy probably thinks studios just push buttons all day. My neighbor runs a packaging design studio and she had a client who fed their brand into an AI tool, got back something that looked like a cereal box from 1992, and actually blamed her for not warning them it would suck. The part nobody talks about is the emotional labor of creative work. When a CEO is crying in your office because their rebrand got rejected by the board, no AI is gonna sit there and help them figure out a new direction that still feels true to their company. That trust and real talk is what keeps studios alive, not the quick logo.

Right place wrong timing situation with that finance guy. My buddy runs a small design shop and he had a client who tried using an AI tool for their rebrand, ended up with a logo that looked like a melted sneaker and zero brand strategy. Took three weeks of actual human conversations to undo the damage and get them something that actually worked for their business.
