Hit 500 CSS art pieces last night, turns out my grid was the problem the whole time
I've been posting little CSS doodles to my personal site for about 18 months now, and last night I noticed my counter hit 500. What surprised me was looking back at the first 50 versus the last 50, the early ones were all divs stacked on top of each other with absolute positioning. Somewhere around piece 300 I started using CSS grid for everything, and my shapes got way cleaner with half the code. I also stopped trying to draw letters and started using border-radius tricks for curves, which sounds obvious now. Usually I delete old stuff, but this week I decided to archive all 500 locally to see the progression, and it's wild how much my approach shifted. Has anyone else looked back at their early work and noticed a specific technique that unlocked things for you?
