I finally quit using box-shadow for soft glows on CSS blobs after 2 years
Last Tuesday I was building a little moon scene out of divs and kept fighting this ugly gray halo around the edges. A guy in a Discord server asked why I wasn't just stacking a radial-gradient behind the blob instead of a box-shadow with 40px blur. I tried it on one circle and the glow looked way cleaner and it scaled with the shape instead of getting clipped by the parent. My dark mode version was the worst offender, that shadow turned into a muddy ring on anything bigger than 200px. Anyone else run into this, or do you have a better way for soft edges on rounded shapes?
