A client in Cleveland told me my CSS grid was too fancy, and they were right
They had a prototype in Firefox from 2012 that still worked, and my 12-column nested grid would break whenever they resized past 900 pixels. I spent 3 days rewriting it with basic flexbox and one media query. Now I ask myself if my code needs to be clever or just survive the person who inherits it. Anyone else had to dumb down their structure because of a client's old browser setup?

and honestly that's the thing, if it works for them and it's easy to fix later, that's way more valuable than showing off your grid skills. like, the person who inherits it is probably gonna be tired and just want to change a few pixels, not untangle 40 lines of custom properties.
