Overheard a dev say flexbox is dead, almost choked on my coffee
Was grabbing lunch near our office in Austin on Tuesday. Two guys at the next table talking about layout. One said he stopped using flexbox entirely. Said grid and container queries make it obsolete. I just stared at my sandwich.
Then he said his team spent 2 days rewriting a nav bar that flexbox handled in 20 minutes. All because some blog post said it was old news.
Look, grid is great. I use it daily. But flexbox is still perfect for one-dimensional stuff. Toolbars, button groups, that little icon + text alignment thing. Rewriting working code just to feel modern is how you get bugs.
Has anyone else been pressured to ditch flexbox by some trend chaser? Or is it just me?
