Can we talk about how grid-auto-rows changes everything for uneven content?

I was building a product grid for a small shop site last night and kept fighting with items of different heights. Looked up some ideas and found out you can pair grid-auto-rows with grid-auto-flow dense to basically auto-fill gaps. Blew my mind because I always just set fixed row heights before. Has anyone else found a weird situation where this trick saved you from writing a ton of media queries?

Thought grid was just for basic layouts before, but that dense flow trick totally flipped my approach.

Dense flow is great but does it ever mess with the visual order of things? I tried it on a music site and some tracks ended up in weird spots.
