Spent 2 hours last Tuesday hunting a missing button on a site, traced it to a z-index of 99999
Was helping my sister set up a page for her bakery in Ohio and the submit button vanished whenever the footer popped up, so I sat there squinting at DevTools with a cold coffee for what felt like forever. Turns out some plugin shipped a div with z-index 99999 and position fixed that was sitting invisibly right on top of it, just swallowing every click like a tiny ghost. How do you all keep your z-index numbers sane, do you actually use a scale or just keep slapping bigger numbers on until stuff shows up?
