Chose a YubiKey over Google Authenticator in January and Lost My Backup Codes
Back in January I bought a YubiKey 5C for $55 after reading that SMS 2FA is easy to hijack, and I switched my email, bank, and Steam account over to it. Two weeks later I wiped my phone without checking my recovery codes were saved, and I got locked out of my bank for four days waiting on a support ticket. Does anyone keep a paper backup, or do you just trust that you will never lose the key?
