I finally set up a password manager after my kid asked me for my Netflix password

For years, I used the same basic password for almost everything, just changing a number at the end. I thought it was fine because I remembered it. Then, last month, my daughter asked for the Netflix login while I was at work. I had to text her a password I also used for my email and my bank. That moment, seeing it typed out in a message, made me feel really stupid. I realized if that text got seen by the wrong person, I could be in big trouble. I spent that weekend setting up Bitwarden, which is free. Now I have a different, long password for every site, and I don't have to remember any of them. It was a pain at first, but now I feel so much safer. Has anyone else had a moment like that, where something simple made you finally change a bad habit?

Yeah, that part about seeing your password typed out in a text... that hits home. I did the exact same thing with my wifi password for a guest, and it was basically my main password for everything. Just staring at it in the message thread gave me this cold feeling. I switched to a manager that same night. It's annoying changing everything at first, but now I don't even think about it.

Ugh, I read an article about how common that exact situation is. Makes you feel so exposed, right?
