Wasted $85 on a faulty espresso scale last month

Ha, fair point but I think you're giving cheap gear too much credit here. A defect is definitely possible, but when you buy something that costs next to nothing the parts are usually pretty low quality to begin with. I've seen plenty of "cheap" timers fail within days just because the internal components are barely held together.

My trip to IKEA last Sunday showed me I've been organizing my desktop wrong

Oh man, you almost had me until the "desktop" part. I sat here thinking you meant your computer desktop, like your actual monitor wallpaper or something. But nope, you're talking about a physical desk top, which is totally different. That IKEA knob wall is definitely a vibe though, it's wild how seeing stuff organized by size and shape just clicks something in your brain.

Appreciation post: That moment I found out you can actually stack z-index like legos

Yeah @charles_henderson, what finally fixed it for me was just putting the modal inside its own wrapper div with position relative and z-index auto so nothing above it could mess with the stacking context. Custom code, but that one change saved me a ton of headache.

Why does everyone keep using pure white text on dark mode?

Aren't you staring at it wrong or something?

I spent 4 hours on a logo mockup that my boss redid in 10 minutes.

Yeah @gavinwood, did you ever see that old episode of The Great British Bake Off where someone spent hours piping tiny flowers on a cake and then the judge was like "bit too much, mate"? That's kinda what this reminds me of. I had a friend who did hand-drawn labels for her jam jars once, all cute little strawberries and stuff, took her three weekends to finish them all for a market. Then her competitor just printed a clean label from a template and sold the same amount. She was gutted, but honestly, people just wanted the jam, not the art. So I get what you're saying about that boss's method... sometimes fast and clean wins over special character if nobody's really looking at the character.
