My quiet Tuesday turned into a full network lockdown
Last week, I got a weird text from my bank about a charge I didn't make. I checked my email and found three password reset requests from sites I hadn't visited in months. I spent the next two hours changing every password I could think of, about 50 accounts total. It turns out my main email got caught in a big data breach from a shopping site I used last year. I had reused that password in a few places, which was my big mistake. Has anyone else had to deal with a breach from a site they forgot they even had an account with?

A tech writer I follow said most people have accounts on at least fifty sites they forgot about. It's scary how one old login can open the door to everything. I started using a password manager after a similar scare, and it helps track those old accounts. The real trouble is finding all those old profiles to delete them. It feels like digital house cleaning you never get to finish.
