Paid $120 for a password manager 8 months back and it caught a reused login I had no idea about
I had the same password on my bank and an old forum from 2011 that got hit in a leak, and the manager flagged it the day I set it up. Has anyone else had a paid one catch something like that, or did you get burned by one that missed stuff?

That line about having the same password on your bank and an old forum from 2011 is exactly how most people get hit, and they never find out until it's too late. I read a writeup from a security researcher a while back who said the average person reuses a password across something like 10 to 15 sites without even realizing it, because half those accounts are ones you made once and forgot about. Those dead accounts are the scary part, since they sit there for years and nobody's watching them. When one of those old sites gets leaked, your email and that password end up in a giant list that gets passed around, and thieves just try it everywhere. So yeah, the fact that yours caught it on day one is the whole point of paying for one. Free ones can do it too, but you have to actually check, and most of us never do.
