User complained my dark mode was "too blue" and then asked for the same shade I had originally
Had a client last Wednesday send me a 7 paragraph critique because my dark mode background had a "cold blue tint" so I spent 4 hours redoing it to a warmer gray they approved. Next morning they emailed saying the new version looked "muddy" and could I just make it the blue from the first draft again. How do you handle people who make you rebuild something they already had?

Them asking for the "muddy" one back is code for "I was wrong but won't admit it." Bill them for both rounds since they're paying for the lesson, not the code.

Add a line item for "consultation fee" too, since they clearly needed the lesson on admitting mistakes. Seriously though, if they want both versions back, just treat it like a package deal and charge double your usual hourly rate. They'll either learn to be more careful next time or cough up the cash for the extra work. Either way you come out ahead.
