Why does nobody mention how bad cheap cardstock bleeds through

I spent last weekend printing wedding invites for my cousin's wedding in Austin. Used some 65 lb cardstock from the dollar store and the ink bled through so bad you could read the words on the back. Tried adjusting my printer settings and even swapped to a different ink cartridge but nothing helped. Finally borrowed my buddy's 100 lb premium stock and the difference was night and day, no bleed at all. Has anyone else run into this with bargain paper or is there a trick I'm missing?

65 pound is basically construction paper for printers.

@oscarwilliams you nailed it. 65 pound is like when you buy those cheap school flyers and they fold over the second you try to pick them up. I had a batch of business cards printed on that weight once and they felt like I was handing out napkins. Real sympathy for anyone stuck with a ream of that stuff.
