My kitchen island turned into a tilt-a-whirl after I skipped the blocking
I decided to build a butcher block island in my kitchen last month, figured it would be a straightforward weekend project. Got it all leveled and looking nice, then my wife set a heavy stockpot on the corner and the whole thing wobbled like a carnival ride. Turns out I forgot to add any blocking between the base frame and the countertop, so it had no real support underneath. Had to pull the whole top off and screw in some 2x4 crossbars to brace it properly. Lost a whole Saturday redoing something I could have done in 15 minutes if I'd planned ahead. Anyone else had a build fail because you skipped one small step?

Blocking is one of those steps that feels optional until you set something heavy on it. Your quick fix saved the project but man, that Saturday sting is brutal. Every DIY has that one step we swear we'll remember next time.

Idk, I used to think blocking was overrated but this totally changed my mind.
