Rant: That $1,200 farmhouse sink I installed last summer was a complete mistake
Everyone told me those big apron front sinks are the way to go for a kitchen remodel. I dropped $1,200 on a fireclay one from a local supplier in Portland, figuring it would last forever. Now I'm dealing with constant staining from coffee and tomato sauce, plus the thing is so heavy my custom cabinet started sagging after three months. I had to rip out the counter and add extra bracing underneath, which cost me another $400 and two weekends. Honestly, I wish I just got a regular stainless steel undermount for a fraction of the price. Anyone else regret chasing that farmhouse trend or is it just me?

Honestly my sagging shelf looks like a sad smile now.

My $900 fireclay sink stained so bad from turmeric that my wife banned yellow foods near it for a month. That apron style looks great in photos but nobody warns you about the daily upkeep it demands. I ended up buying a cheap stainless utility sink for prep work and now the farmhouse one is basically just a decorative piece.
