Vent: I painted my kitchen cabinets navy and now my whole house looks off
Spent last weekend painting my oak cabinets in a deep navy color called "In the Navy" from a paint store in Cincinnati. They look great on their own but now my beige walls and honey oak floors make the whole room feel dark and heavy. A painter friend stopped by and said I basically flipped the light and dark balance in the room, so now the cabinets are the loudest thing in there instead of the walls. Thinking I either need to go lighter on the walls or add a rug and backsplash to tie it together. Has anyone painted cabinets a dark color and regretted it or figured out how to make the rest of the room match?
