My first poster design had a spelling error I didnt catch until print

Back in March I made a poster for a small church bake sale in Austin. I kept checking colors and spacing, but I never read the actual words out loud. Printed 50 copies at the copy shop, cost me about 40 bucks total. Got home and my wife pointed out I wrote “loosely” instead of “loosely” in the headline. I had to reprint everything the next morning and eat the cost. Since then I read every line backwards, word by word, before I send anything to print. Does anyone else have a similar story where the text was the last thing you checked, and it bit you?

Reading backwards is smart but honestly I never gave text a second thought before. Visual stuff was always my main worry too, like kerning and color balance. It took one messed up batch of flyers for a client to make me realize the words matter just as much as the pretty parts. Now I print out one test copy and read it slow, out loud, before I ever hit the print button on bulk. That mistake cost me time and money but it changed how I work completely. Still gives me a little panic when I spot a typo in someone else's work, know that feeling?
