Switching from hex codes to HSL for picking colors
Tbh I used to just copy hex codes from random sites until I spent an afternoon in Figma trying to match a clients green from a photo. Now I always think in HSL, it makes tweaking brightness or saturation way more obvious when you're stuck on a shade. Anyone else find that easier or do you stick with eyedroppers?

...which is exactly how I ended up spending an hour adjusting a shade of "off white" for a logo because the client said it looked too yellow on their screen. The hex code was fine, but every tweak felt like a shot in the dark. Now I just slide the saturation slider down a hair and call it a day. Still keep an eyedropper handy for when I'm too lazy to think.

Ugh, tell me about it. I had a client once who swore their logo was "poison green" when it was literally the same hex as their brand guide. I stopped playing the slider game after that. Now I screenshot the color, put it on their actual monitor, and ask them to send me a pic of it on their phone. That usually settles it. Or I just tell them to restart their computer. Fixed a whole branding crisis that way once, no joke.
