Hit 1000 layers in one Figma file and my laptop almost caught fire
I was working on this big app redesign for the last 3 weeks and finally checked the layer count. 1000 layers. I honestly didn't think I'd ever hit that number but there it was. The file was so slow that scrolling took like 3 seconds just to respond. I had to go through and flatten a bunch of grouped elements and turn text layers into outlines just to keep working. It's crazy how easy it is to let layers pile up when you're just adding one more thing. Now I'm wondering if there's a better way to organize before it gets that bad. Has anyone else run into this and found a trick to keep things fast?

1000 layers is just being lazy with auto-layout honestly.

I dunno, calling it "lazy" feels a little harsh. I get it, if you're just slapping 1000 layers on everything without any thought, yeah that's kind of a mess. But sometimes you genuinely need that many layers for a really complex scene or a detailed texture, and auto-layout can actually save you from going crazy with manual placement. It's not like everyone's out here trying to be an artist, some people just want their project done and auto-layout helps them hit that deadline without pulling their hair out. Feels like we're gatekeeping how many layers is acceptable now or something.
