Smart guides made me lazy, custom grid fixed it in a day

I used to just drag boxes around and trust the pink snap lines to line stuff up... until I opened a client file last Tuesday and saw 47 layers of misaligned nonsense staring back at me. Spent that whole afternoon rebuilding my template with a 12-column grid and locked spacing increments. It felt slow at first, but by hour three I was placing elements in half the clicks because the grid already knew where everything should go. Anyone else ditch smart guides once they went all-in on custom grids?
