My color calibration tool died halfway through a client proof review yesterday
I was sitting there with a client in my home office in Austin, showing off the final proofs for a restaurant branding package. Mid sentence my little Spyder device just went dark, no warning, no blinking light, nothing. The colors on my monitor shifted to this weird blue tint instantly and I had to pretend everything was fine. I ended up telling the client I was having a "display refresh issue" and asked if we could reschedule for tomorrow morning. Ran to Best Buy 20 minutes before close and grabbed a new calibrator for $170. The worst part is I had my old one for like 4 years and never thought to buy a backup. Has anyone else had a tool fail right in the middle of a client meeting and had to totally improvise?

Yeah did you have a backup monitor profile saved anywhere? I always keep a screenshot of my calibrated settings just in case, learned that the hard way after a similar panic moment.
