My neighbor's comment about his 'standing desk regret' got me thinking
He said he bought a fancy motorized one last month but now his feet hurt and he's back to sitting all day. I've been saving up for a standing desk myself, but his story made me pause. Has anyone found a good middle ground, like a specific anti-fatigue mat or a schedule that actually works?

That's a common issue if you just switch over cold turkey. Did your neighbor try a good mat at all, or was he just standing on a hard floor? A cheap foam one won't cut it. The real question is what kind of shoes he was wearing while standing, because that matters as much as the surface.

Honestly, I was totally in the "just stand more" camp before. Tbh, I thought gear was overkill. My own feet killing me after a week was a real wake up call. A decent mat made a night and day difference, it's not just marketing. You really do need to ease into it with short standing breaks, not just jump to eight hours. Good shoes help too, but that mat is the real game changer for not giving up.
