Rant: my floating shelf level kept lying to me for 2 days
I spent 48 hours in my Brooklyn studio fighting a shelf that looked perfectly level until I put anything on it. Turns out the wall itself was sloping 1.5 degrees and my bubble level was way too short to catch it. Anyone else have a wall that sabotages every straight line you hang?

Read somewhere that laser levels are the only way to catch that kind of slope. Bought a cheap one after my third try with the bubble. It lit up the whole wall and I finally saw the truth. The shelf was level, but the wall was crooked. Ended up shimming the bracket on one side. Looks fine now, but it took way too long for a six foot stick. That 1.5 degrees is brutal, invisible to the eye but makes everything tilt when you add weight.
