Showerthought: Those cheap foam monitor stands I ignored for years actually helped my neck pain
I spent about $200 on a fancy adjustable monitor arm six months ago and it helped a little but my neck still hurt by 3 PM every day. Then my roommate left for a trip and gave me these $15 foam risers he got off Amazon. I put them under my monitors just to try and honestly my shoulders relaxed after two days. I think the arm made me put the screens too high or something. The foam blocks sit at 4 inches exactly and my eyes line up with the top bezel now. I never thought I would say this but cheap foam beat a metal arm in my home office in Austin. Has anyone else had a simple fix like this work better than the expensive gear?

Does anyone else end up using a folded towel under their laptop because the $200 stand just feels wrong?

Is a laptop stand really that deep? I mean, it's a hunk of metal and plastic you're putting under a plastic and metal computer. I've used a stack of old textbooks (pro tip: they're usually free) and a wooden cutting board when my desk was too low. The towel thing is actually smart because it helps with airflow, and it costs like zero dollars. People get way too fancy with this stuff when a folded t-shirt works just fine.
