Chose the wrong backup generator after Hurricane Laura hit Lake Charles

Oh man, I totally get that, @fiona_nelson51. I had a generator conk out during a storm once and learned the hard way that cheap ones aren't worth it (like, literally learned when the fridge went silent). Now I overthink every purchase to the point of annoyance, but it beats being stuck in the dark!

TIL that cheap mortar mix bags will cost you more in the long run

Yeah but hanging the bags heavier is actually a good sign, means more cement in the mix. The problem is you don't know if it's good cement or cheap filler. That clay chunk thing though, that's a dead giveaway. You got straight up bad aggregate in there, probably from someone scooping it out of a dry creek bed. Next time take a wet sample and rub it between your fingers, if it feels slimy you know it's got too much dirt in it.

Serious question: is the Alastair method actually worth the hype?

You're acting like 47 appointments is some kind of crisis. That's just a busy month for most people, not a reason to overhaul your whole system. If drawing a few grids takes too long for you, maybe you need a simpler job, not a different planner method.

Question about the way people treat their miter saw fences

I mean, are we really chasing 32nds of an inch on a miter saw? Feels like half the time the wood itself moves or the blade flexes anyway.
