Unpopular opinion: I spent 8 hours trying to fix a single layer mask in my new piece

I was working on a portrait and the hair layer just wouldn't blend right, no matter what brush or setting I tried. It took me a full workday to realize I had accidentally set the mask to a weird blend mode from the start. Who else has lost a whole day to a simple setting you missed?

Read a blog post once where a pro designer spent two days on a color issue, only to find the monitor's night light mode was on.

Been there. Calibrated a whole print run once. Colors looked muddy, weird. Client was furious. Turned out the office cleaning crew unplugged the calibration device. Two weeks of panic over a loose cable.
