A cafe in Pai with fast internet was a lifesaver for my deadlines

I was in Pai, Thailand, and my Airbnb wifi was too slow for video calls. A local told me about a cafe with great internet, so I went there. I could do all my meetings and finish my tasks. Do you have go-to ways to check internet speed before booking a place?

That "Airbnb wifi was too slow" feeling is the worst, especially when you really need to get work done. I've totally been there, stuck with a connection that can't even load email. My go to move now is to actually search the reviews for the word "wifi" before I book anything. People almost always complain if it's bad, or sometimes they'll even post the speed test results. It's not perfect, but it saves me a lot of stress.

You search reviews for wifi - got any other tips for spotting bad connections?

Searching reviews is a solid move. I also look for any mention of "router" or "signal" in the reviews, which sometimes gives you the real story. Saved me from a few duds last year.
