My neighbor the contractor made me rethink cheap paint rollers
Had a conversation with my neighbor Dave last weekend. He's been doing drywall for 25 years. I was complaining about paint texture always looking uneven on my living room walls. He asked what roller I used. I said the cheap 3-pack from the hardware store for $8. He just laughed. Told me he spends $15 on a single high-density roller. Said the foam ones trap air and leave bubbles. Took his advice and bought one good Purdy roller for my kitchen repaint last Tuesday. Night and day difference. No bubbles, no texture issues. Made me realize I've been making the job harder just to save a few bucks. Has anyone else had a tool upgrade that changed their whole approach?

Oh man, I totally feel you on this one! But I gotta say I actually use a different brand and it's still lightyears better than those cheap foam rollers. I grabbed a Wooster roller on a whim after seeing it recommended online, and honestly it's like painting with a whole different tool. The foam ones just seem to fight you every step of the way, leaving bubbles and that weird texture. A good roller makes the paint go on so smooth you almost forget you're working.

Wait, have you NEVER tried a good roller before? Because I had the EXACT same experience and now I won't touch those cheap foam things. They leave that weird orange peel texture no matter how careful you are. A decent Purdy roller is like going from a toy hammer to a real one. It just makes the paint lay down flat and smooth without fighting you the whole time.
