Bought a 3 inch dredge pump off Craigslist for $800, ended up being a paperweight
Spent a whole weekend rebuilding it before I figured out the casing was cracked from freezing. Has anyone else had luck buying used pumps or is it just not worth the risk?

Bought a used 4 inch pump off a guy on Facebook Marketplace for half the price of a new one. Took it apart before I handed over the cash, found the impeller was beat up but the casing was solid. Offered him $100 less, put a new impeller in for $40 and it's been running dry on my jobs for two years now. I'd still buy used, but you gotta treat every Craigslist pump like it's hiding something until you dig into it yourself.
