Spent 8 hours on a clogged suction line that turned out to be a single rock
The whole thing was a single, smooth river stone jammed right at the pump intake. Felt like a total idiot after pulling apart the whole line. Anyone else had a clog that simple but took forever to find?

Oh man, that's the worst kind. Don't feel bad about the time spent, a single rock can create a perfect seal. I once tore apart a whole sprinkler zone for a tiny piece of root that looked just like a drip emitter.

Nah, it's not quite the same as a rock though. Rocks are hard and will crack valves or seats if you try to force them out. Roots are soft and can get crushed or flushed easier if you catch it early. I had a similar thing happen with a root that looked just like a drip emitter too, but after messing with it for an hour I realized I could just cut the root with wire cutters from the inside. Took less than a minute. Rocks you gotta dig out or disassemble the whole thing. Big difference in how you handle it.

My neighbor spent three hours on a pebble last week. It was wedged in a valve seat and stopped all flow. Those tiny things cause the biggest headaches.
