Checked out the new condos on 5th Street and saw some bad framing

I was walking through the units at the Riverwalk complex downtown yesterday and the stud spacing was all over the place. Some bays were 20 inches, others were 18, and I even saw a 26-inch gap. That's going to cause a nightmare with sagging and cracking down the line. Has anyone else run into a framing crew cutting corners like that on a new build?

That 26-inch gap you saw is a huge red flag for drywall cracking later.

Guess they're letting the framers use a random number generator now. Joseph_lewis92 is right about the drywall, but honestly I'd worry more about the whole wall falling over. Maybe it's just me but that's a new level of not caring.

Man, I read a whole article last week about how this kind of sloppy framing is becoming more common with the rush to build. The writer said inspectors are spread too thin to catch every single bay, so crews get away with it until someone complains. That 26-inch gap is just asking for trouble.
