Finished my first corner bead repair at that old church in Oakville
I spent last Tuesday patching up a busted corner bead at St. Mary's on 3rd Street. The original metal was all rusted out and the mud was cracking everywhere. I used a vinyl bead this time and it went in smooth. Has anyone else tried switching from metal to vinyl on older buildings?

Oh man, did this bring back a memory. My buddy Dave tried swapping to vinyl on this old Victorian he was working on, thought it'd be a breeze. Well, the bead ended up warping in the sun before he even got the mud on, and he had to rip the whole thing out. He was so mad he just threw the rest of the pack in the trash.

Did Dave ever figure out if the old timber framing was too out of square for vinyl to lay right, or was it just a bad batch of bead?
