Spent 4 hours fixing a corner bead that kept popping off...
I used regular joint compound to bed it instead of setting type and it took forever to dry, then popped again the next day. Has anyone else made that mistake or is it just me?

Hot mud is all I use on beads now after learning the same lesson the hard way. Regular compound just doesn't have the grab for that job.

Man that exact lesson cost me a whole Saturday afternoon a couple years back lol. I was trying to do a quick patch on some corner beads with regular compound and it just slid right off, made a mess everywhere. Hot mud really does grab so much better, like it actually wants to stick to the metal instead of just sitting there. I remember standing there with that sloppy mess thinking "why didn't I just grab the hot mud from the truck." Now I keep a bag of 20 minute in my trunk for exactly this kind of thing, it's just not worth the headache to fight with the regular stuff.
