Why would you need a trick if you just use the right lube and technique in the first place? Sounds like another way to overcomplicate a basic job.

...until you're elbow deep in a Saginaw steering gear that's been sitting for 15 years with 40 weight oil baked into every seal, and your arm won't even reach the bleeder screw because of how the box is mounted. Sometimes you gotta get creative with a vacuum pump and a turkey baster just to get the old stuff out before you even think about new fluid. I've had to wedge a mirror and a long screwdriver just to get a hose clamp on one of those. The "right technique" doesn't always fit through a 10 inch gap between the frame and the inner fender, you know? So yeah, sometimes a trick is just what you need when the book says you need three hands and you've only got two.
