Just did the math on my meter and it blew my mind

Was looking at my meter yesterday after a job in Phoenix. Realized the utility company charges a 5% 'adjustment fee' on the demand side. Been doing this 12 years and never caught that. Checked my last 3 bills and it added up to $47 a month extra. How many of you have actually looked past the total and read the fine print on your own bill?

Pull up the tariff sheet from your state utility commission website. That 5% demand side charge is usually buried in there but it's 100% negotiable if you can prove your peak load is consistent. I found a similar clause in my own contract and got it reduced to 2% after showing them 2 years of data.

Damn that's wild lmao. 5% adjustment fee on the demand side is sneaky as hell, can't believe they just tuck that in there like nobody's gonna notice. 47 bucks a month extra adds up real quick over a year, that's like a whole payment on something.

@thomas_johnson35 that 5% demand fee is a real kick in the teeth... $47 a month is like losing a car payment every year. I'm with you, it's way too easy to just glance at the total and move on.
