My old boss in Denver swore by using a 12-gauge pigtail for every 15-amp outlet, even on new runs.

I thought it was a waste of time and wire until I had to troubleshoot a loose neutral on a bedroom circuit that was feeding a space heater. That extra length made the fix take two minutes instead of pulling the whole box. Do you guys always pigtail your outlets, or only in certain cases?

Is it really that big of a deal? I've seen plenty of outlets work fine without pigtails for years.
