I painted my garage door a bright coral and the whole house feels different now

My wife wanted a pop of color on our 1970s ranch in Ohio, so we went with a bold coral from the hardware store. I was sure it would look weird, but after two coats last weekend, the whole front of the house feels brighter and more welcoming. It somehow makes the old brick look less tired, and the white trim we have really stands out. I learned that one small, cheap change can totally shift how you see the whole property. Has anyone else tried a wild color on just one feature and been surprised?

That coral will look dated in two years tops.

Remember that bright coral couch from the West Elm catalog in 2018. It was everywhere, and now it just looks tired. What makes a color feel dated versus classic, is it just how much we see it? I feel like some shades get run into the ground by fast furniture trends.

robinmason saying it will look dated in two years... I used to think exactly that way. But seeing how happy that coral door makes you, and how it changed the feel of your whole house, it kind of changed my mind. A color that makes your own home feel good to you is never really a mistake, even if it goes out of style somewhere else.
