Serious question, has anyone else seen a bank branch with a broken coin counter?
I was at the Capital One on 5th Avenue yesterday and their self-service coin machine was just flashing an error code, with a line of people holding jars. The teller said it's been 'acting up' for a week. What's the point of having it if they won't fix it? Do other banks just remove them when they break?

You said "what's the point of having it," but maybe the point is they're phasing them out anyway. Those machines are a huge hassle to maintain for how little they get used.

Remember when my friend tried to cash in her kid's giant piggy bank? She went to three different banks and every single coin machine was either broken or just gone. She ended up having to roll all those coins by hand at her kitchen table. Makes you wonder if they even order the paper tubes anymore.
