TIL my budget spreadsheet was a total mess after a friend roasted it

They pointed out I was tracking every $3 coffee but ignoring my $200 quarterly car insurance payment, which skewed my whole spending view. I switched to a zero-based budget template from a YNAB review and it actually makes sense now. Anyone else get called out on their basic finance tracking?

Been there. My own budget was a total fiction because I only tracked cash in my wallet, not the automatic bills. Fixed it by putting every single bill, even the yearly ones, into a simple calendar reminder. Now I see the real monthly cost before the money even comes in. That friend did you a favor, painful as it was.

That calendar trick is smart for seeing the bills, but I still got caught off guard by a random vet bill last month. I mean, I had to move money from my fun budget to cover it, which kinda sucked.
