I think overnighting flowers for events is often a waste

Letting blooms settle in the shop for a day makes sturdier arrangements, even when clients stress about deadlines.

But what about the damage from being tossed around in planes and trucks all night? Those flowers get shaken up so much that they're half dead on arrival. Letting them sit quietly in water for a day lets them drink up and recover. Clients might not see the difference at first, but their arrangements will wilt faster. So you're really paying extra for weaker flowers that won't last as long. It's like buying a car that's been driven hard and then expecting it to run smooth.

Notice how this happens with everything now, from fast shipping to quick meals. We trade away how long things last just to get them a bit sooner, like flowers that arrive beat up and fade fast. It's all part of the same worn out deal, really.
