PSA: A delivery to a nursing home in Springfield made me see my work in a new way.

I had a big wedding order fall through last Friday, so I had a ton of extra peonies and ranunculus. I made up a few extra bouquets and dropped them off at the local senior center on a whim. The activity director told me one lady, who rarely talks, held her bouquet for two hours straight and smiled the whole time. It hit me that our flowers can do more than just look pretty for events. Has anyone else had a small gesture with leftover blooms turn into something special?

That story about the lady holding the bouquet for two hours is really powerful. It makes me wonder about the logistics, honestly. Did the activity director ask you to come back or set up a regular thing? I've seen some florists do a weekly "leftover bunch" drop-off for hospice or care homes, but it can get complicated fast if they start expecting it.

Yeah, that's the tricky part. They did ask about a regular thing, but setting up a weekly drop is a huge promise. What if the shop has a busy week and has no leftovers? Then you're either buying flowers just to keep the promise or letting people down. It's better to keep it as a nice surprise now and then, not a schedule they count on. That way it stays a gift, not a job.
