Switched to tape and wire from foam. Huge pain but worth it.

Tried ditching floral foam for eco reasons. My arrangements looked awful for weeks. Customers were not happy. Kept at it, figured out the tricks. Now everything stays put and I sleep better.

But let's not forget how handy foam is. It saves time and keeps flowers in place, which is what customers really pay for.

Yeah but the thing about customers just paying for things to stay put isn't the full story. A lot of them are asking for green options now, they notice the foam crumbs. When I switched, I lost a few orders at first because my work was messy. But I got good with the chicken wire grids and now the stems have better water uptake anyway. The hold is different, but it's not worse once you learn it.

Henderson.hugo is right about foam being fast, but the learning curve with tape is worth it. My first wire frames were a mess, but once you get the anchor points right, the hold is actually better. Sticking with it was the only way my shop could ditch the green block for good.
