Update: My evening email ban is saving my sanity

I thought checking messages after hours showed I was committed. Then a weekend panic over a small edit made me see how it hurts my focus. Now I close my laptop at 6 PM and don't look back. I feel more rested and ready for the next day. How do you handle after work contact?

Man, I am SO with you on this. I used to check my work email right before bed and it was really bad for my sleep. My brain would start solving problems instead of winding down. Now my phone goes on Do Not Disturb at 7 PM. It felt weird at first, like I was slacking, but it's a simple thing that changed everything. The work will still be there in the morning, but my patience for it is way higher if I'm not always on call.

Try explaining that to my boss who thinks being reachable at midnight is some kind of loyalty test. Solid move, @james_butler, because that "always on" grind just makes you hate the job faster. Real dedication is actually being rested enough to think straight.
