Just realized my new robot vacuum needs a app subscription for scheduling

It cleans fine on its own. But to set cleaning times, you have to pay monthly. Some folks say this is how companies keep improving apps. I think it's a sneaky way to charge more after the sale. Where do you stand on gadgets with extra fees?

Yeah but calling it a scam feels like a lot. It's just ink. My car needs gas, my phone needs a plan. Companies want steady money now. It's annoying but it's how stuff works, not some big trick.
