My garage cleanup turned into a bigger mess with cheap shelves

I see lots of folks using cheap shelves for garage storage. I put some up for my paint cans and tools. They couldn't handle the weight and buckled last week. Now I'm cleaning up spilled paint and broken containers.

That sounds like a scene from a bad home improvement comedy. I can just picture you standing there in a lake of semi-gloss with a bent shelf in your hand. Sometimes the cheap fix costs you twice as much in the long run.

Oh man, that is the worst feeling! I had a whole set of those wire shelves give out under a bunch of car cleaning supplies. Bottles of wax and tire cleaner everywhere, it was a sticky, soapy nightmare. Learned the hard way that garage stuff is way heavier than it looks. Totally feel your pain on that cleanup job.

Ugh, been there. Next time, screw the brackets straight into the wall studs, not just the drywall.
