Vent: Filing a bolt too far ruined my week

Back when I started, I thought hand-fitting was just about feel. Took off too much metal and had to order a new part, which set me back days. Funny how a little mistake can teach you so much lmao.

Always thought it was just about patience, not precision. That kind of mistake really changes how you see the whole process.

Ever notice how being patient just means you have more time to mess things up? I once spent a whole weekend assembling furniture, only to find out I put the legs on upside down because I didn't measure anything. Now I double-check every step, but I still hate reading instructions. Guess precision isn't my strong suit.

Oh man, I feel this. I've done the same thing with a bookshelf. Followed the pictures, thought I was doing great, and then the whole thing leaned like the Tower of Pisa. It's not just patience, it's that weird mix of rushing and then overthinking it. You skip the instructions, then you triple-check the wrong step. Makes you wonder if some people are just born with a better eye for this stuff.
